Communication and Media Studies - Media and Cultural Studies, Concentration


The Media and Cultural Studies concentration analyzes media content and production in a wide range of contexts including politics, economics, inclusion, and popular culture.  This concentration provides students with the tools to examine how media industries shape our cultural norms on individual, national, and global levels.  Course work in this concentration covers a variety of areas including mediated communication, media effects, global media, and human-computer communication.

Communication Studies Requirements


All students choosing to major in Communication Studies must fulfill specific department core requirements. These courses contain skills, theory, analysis, performance, writing, and research. They are as follows (29 credits):
