Welcome to the College of Business and Engineering (COBE) at Wilkes University!
It is with great honor and privilege that I get to serve as the dean of Wilkes University’s College of Business and Engineering. The college houses the Jay S. Sidhu School of Business and Leadership with exceptional undergraduate and graduate programs accredited by AACSB in accounting, finance, management, marketing, hospitality, sports management with minor programs in Business Analytics, Sustainability Management, and Supply chain Management and MBA. The college also houses exceptional undergraduate engineering programs in Civil, Electrical, Environmental, with a minor in Environmental Policy, Mechanical, and Engineering Management with a minor program in Environmental Policy, and graduate engineering programs in electrical, mechanical, engineering management, and bioengineering. The Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET accredits the undergraduate engineering programs in electrical, environmental and mechanical engineering. Accreditation of the civil engineering program is in the works.
At the core of our curricula are courses taught by outstanding engineering and business faculty in a minds-on and hands-on experiential project-based learning in small classroom settings. In addition, synergistic programming between engineering and business provides opportunities for our students to engage in interdisciplinary initiatives resulting in effective communication, teamwork and collaboration in a market relevant and impactful societal environment.
The faculty and staff at the College of Business and Engineering is diverse and a uniquely qualified group of professionals who care much about our students’ personal and professional developments. They bring the latest in the theoretical and applied business and engineering knowledge into their classrooms.
Our small class sizes are delivered using hands-on instructional methodology with the support of three on-campus excellent centers namely, Center for Entrepreneruship and Innovation, Small Business Development Center and, Family Business Alliance. The Centers serve as business laboratory opportunities for our students to experiment with the latest industry practices. Required Internship experiences also provide students the opportunity to translate what learned in the classroom and the centers to real world applications. This applies to business.
Engineering programs are highly supported by the state-of-the-art facilities with an emphasis on undergraduate research experience that enhances student learning, and faculty and student interaction. These experiences enable graduates to enter the workforce with extensive hands-on experience, a trait widely sought after by employers.
Moving towards a branded Business and Engineering College of Excellence, we encourage our alumni and supporters to become stakeholders and play active roles through serving as advisory board members, classroom guest speakers, financial assistance, and other supporting activities as needed to move Sidhu School to the next level of academic prominence.
By joining the College of Business and Engineering at Wilkes University as a student, it means joining a network of caring and accomplished professionals. We invite you to browse our Website and to contact us as either prospective students, supporters, or if you need additional information about any of our outstanding programs.
Sincerely,
Dr. Abel O. Adekola
