AFS 101 - Introduction to Africana Studies Credits: 3
This course serves as an introduction to the interdisciplinary study of the diverse cultures, histories, and experiences of people of African descent around the world. The course will explore important historical events, social movements, literature, and art of the African diaspora. We will apply methods of analysis from the disciplines of history, art criticism, and the social sciences to better understand the experiences of people of African descent, and their confrontation with-and struggles to overcome-systems of oppression.
