COM 375 - Crises and Media Credits: 3
This course explores select crises that have occurred locally, nationally and internationally throughout history. Students will look at the role media play in crises, from journalistic and public relations perspectives. Among other questions, students will ask how media framed the crisis; what media had done correctly with regard to informing the public on the particular crisis; what media could have done better; how the public was mobilized through media and what - if anything - did media gatekeepers not tell the public.
