PHA 506 - Concepts in Infectious Disease Credits: 2
This course is offered in the Fall semester to P3 students and is designed to allow students to explore and develop advanced knowledge and skills related to infectious diseases. This course will be of value to pharmacy students seeking careers in infectious diseases whether it be in ambulatory care pharmacy practice, community pharmacy, long-term care and population health management. Students will be heavily leading the course through presentations, cases and poster presentations. Active learning techniques are used throughout the course to build critical thinking and problem solving skills. Emphasis is placed on the integration of disease states and approaches to practice management. Assignments that engage students in lifelong learning and community engagement are additional features of the course.
